Dispatch from LA update

Are you taking my advice and reading Mary Ann's posts? What are you waiting for? Do not you thrill at travel, chuckle at wit, and hardly contain yourself with awe at creativity? I have just updated my read there and finished off my day feeling pleasantly sublime. She has just returned from Paris and her journals reflect her joy and mirror my own - I too enjoy wandering off by myself to find unusual or off beat corners and places, letting a walk or the Metro take me to unplanned stops, riding the bus to the end of the line. I am vicariously enjoying her encounters while I wait for my own next Parisian stay.

In her latest post, Mary Ann shares how to create your own frame for photos.

Meanwhile, here's one of my favorite photos and memorable moments at Rue Mouffetard. An impromptu dance on the street while others go about their business. See the man looking at the man looking at the dancers? While I look at them all?

Thanks for your honest and inspiring journals of your day. M-A, you rock.

Two books to add to my wish list

The first is a collection of hand-drawn patterns to inspire lots of ideas.

The second is what it says: pages from the visual journals and sketchbooks of graphic designers. Fun to look at and be motivated by.

Sketchbooks extraordinaire

I love love this man's work. His blog was one of the first ones I added to my own blogroll and his prolific and authentic draws inspire me every time I look at them. Lately he has been adding map sketches and trying different formats. They are all sublime. I've posted one here, I hope it's okay...go see his work. His web page is 4ojos and you can get to his blog and sketches there. Now I must go make a map.
